The American luxury automaker Cadillac was seen testing its new SUV crossover on the streets of Detroit. Recent images suggest that the car will be a three-row utility vehicle and can be slotted in between the XT5 and the bigger Cadillac Escalade on grounds of size. Before the 2018 Cadillac XT7 hits the dealer stores, here are few general questions about the new SUV that needs attention.
When to expect the new Cadillac?
2018 XT7 can make its debut around late 2016 or early 2017 to move ahead of its rivals: Audi Q7, and Volvo XC90. It will be based on the extended version of XT5’s platform and will resemble its predecessor in many respects.
2018 Cadillac XT7: What will be its price?
The new 2018 Cadillac XT7 models are expected to range around $39,990, and higher versions may go up to $65,800.
2018 Cadillac XT7: How will it look?
2018 Cadillac XT7 underwent field testing heavily covered, but a few external features could be spotted. They also confirm suggestions that this model will be enlarged version of the classy XT5. It will have similar or same grille’s design, headlights and even roofline. Its larger proportions will force it to have elongated rear glass in its profile side.
What is new in terms of luxury?
The seven seated car will have more room in the rear seats, which is seen as an improvement from XT5. Front seats will be 8-way power driven with luxurious headrests. Rear seats are with recline and forward slide features to allow adjustable legroom and cargo hold space.
Expect premium materials and finishes and even base versions with option for leather covered seats.
Cadillac will equip all versions with the latest CUE infotainment system and 8-10 speaker Bose audio system. Navigation features will be available in the higher priced models while it’s optional for, the lower ones. XT7 will also come standard with voice commands, Android Auto and Apple Car Play, dual zone climate control, keyless ignition and entry, and more. Higher spec models will of course rise the convenience and tech features availability to the next level.
What has Cadillac done about safety?
In terms of safety, the model will likely get the similar treatment as its smaller sibling XT5. That means, we can expect OnStar system support with roadside assistance, stolen vehicle assistance, automatic crash notification, etc. Advanced available driver aids will be forward collision alert and pedestrian detection, frontal collision mitigation, lane departure intervention and warning, etc.
2018 Cadillac XT7: Is it powerful?
2018 Cadillac XT7 will likely borrow the engine that powers the new XT5 version. It is a 3.6 liter V-6 engine that produces 310 hp and torque of 271 pound-feet in XT5. It will probably be tuned to deliver more power and torque in XT7 and it will be parried with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Front-wheel drive will be standard and as option there will be all-wheel drive as well.
