It was though that Cadillac XTS would be discontinued, but that is not exactly the case. It is true that Cadillac didn’t pay much attention to the XTS, mainly because all their focus was on CTS and CT6 models. However, the XTS is still available on the market. In fact, a few months ago, its sales improved by 22%. This hike in the sale did come as a surprise and as of now, the car won’t be discontinued anytime soon. Instead, an updated version will be launched soon in the form of 2018 Cadillac XTS.
It is expected that this car will be staying in the market for at least a couple years more. It is likely to be discontinued in 2020. This means that this 2018 update will not be a complete revision.
Cadillac XTS will remain the only car that will be based on the old platform, Epsilon II. This platform has been around for a long time and XTS will continue to use it shortly. Not including a major revision would include GM to focus on its rear wheel drive models without having to discontinue XTS.
2018 Cadillac XTS: Design and Styling
The present model looks a bit different and that is a good thing. It is expected that the 2018 Cadillac XTS will follow the design scheme of currently running model quite closely. However, to bring the vehicle on level grounds with other models, you can expect some minimal changes to its bodywork.
It is expected that this model will feature the new headlight design that is available in Cadillac CT6 model. There will also be a vertical array of LED DRLs like on the Caddy’s new models. Similarly, a new grille might also be included. The exterior components that are likely to stay with this model include raked roof, long overhangs, profile design, etc. However, the rear should also get the similar treatment as the front side. There should be some changes around the rear bumper and exhaust tips as well as the taillights.
Just like its exterior, the changes included in the interior of 2018 XTS won’t be much significant. Expect the basic traits to remain same throughout the cabin, although you can expect better material quality and more equipment this time around.
Furthermore, latest infotainment system will be available while dashboard will also be slightly different. Overall, the cabin should have a cleaner design, which would allow this model to compete with premium European offerings.
2018 Cadillac XTS: Powertrain Specification
The present model is available in China, the USA and a few other markets as well. It comes with either a 3.6 liter V6 or a twin-turbocharged version of this engine. Currently, the base V-6 engine generates 304 HP along with 264 lb ft of torque. With 2018 Cadillac XTS, this output could slightly increase.
On the other hand, 3.6 liter twin-turbocharged V6 unit can generate 410 HP along with 369 lb ft of torque. All-wheel drive is standard with this engine option while the front-wheel drive is available with the base power unit. A six-speed automatic transmission is also standard across the lineup but we hope that Caddy might offer a new 8-speed automatic unit.
2018 Cadillac XTS: Price and Release Date
2018 Cadillac XTS is expected to debut in early 2017 with a starting price of approximately $45,000.
