Our grandfathers often said that a single wise decision is better than an array of wrong conclusions and Ford has taken it very seriously. In that context, Ford Edge is a great solution for the buyers which need plenty of the space for the passengers and their cargo but also get smooth ride quality and a trio of powerful and efficient engines. So, this model will be great for families who do not need the third-row seats but want to enjoy a similar cargo space provided by its Escape variants. Ford is expected to bring the 2018 Ford Edge in 4 trims – SE, SEL, Titanium and Sport; but it seems to have a number of new specs on its cards as well.
2018 Ford Edge – Will styling be different?
Ford has opted for a unibody design for this model and it also shares the running gear and some styling elements with the Fusion model. Standard 3 bar horizontal chrome grille houses the Ford logo in the middle and has six-sided shape. Some changes are expected around model’s grille but 2018 Ford Edge should also come with square shaped LED headlamps along with triangular fog lamps. The new Edge should also feature some styling changes on its bumpers and taillights.
It is likely to go for standard 18-inch aluminum wheels and dual exhaust outlets. However, the upper trims will offer bigger wheels while the Sport version will boast 21-inch alloys.
Having done away with its third row, 2018 Edge will provide sufficient space to 5 passengers and their cargo. The comfortable front seats will be available with the power, heating and ventilating features but the rear seat passengers will also get the heating treatment.
The newest Edge will get the latest Sync 3 infotainment system and all modern features that go with it. Available will also be the leather upholstery, unique trim accents, automatic climate control, strong sound system and much more.
Does 2018 Edge ensure safety?
Safety has been ensured with the usual safety equipment and the Edge will also include all advanced safety features common for its class. Available will be forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, blind zone detection with rear cross-traffic alert, etc.
2018 Ford Edge: How powerful is it?
2018 Ford Edge should again be available with three engine options. The power output which stands at 245 HP will be available from a 2.0-litre turbo 4-cylinder engine as standard or 280 HP from a 3.5-litre V6.
An optional engine model of 2.7 litres twin turbo V6 will be provided for auto enthusiasts capable of providing 315 HP at the driver’s disposal. The standard on all models except the Sport version will be the front-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive will be optional or standard in the Sport trim.
The new Edge should, however, introduce the new 9-speed transmission which should bring improvements in the fuel economy.
2018 Ford Edge – Price and Release Date
It is expected to unveil itself in the world market by the fall of 2017. 2018 Ford Edge will likely be priced at around $30,000 with higher trims expecting considerable price surge.
