Ford has been known to make tougher pickup trucks, and the F-150 Raptor adds to its stable with a bolder styling and impressive performance. 2018 Ford Raptor is set to be launched in the last quarter of 2017. Looks can kill and this is how Ford attempts to battle its Ram and Chevy rivals with. Raptor is one of the most trusted vehicles for towing and hauling and added to it is an immensely powerful powertrain thanks to the EcoBoost. Built to tackle rougher terrains, this vehicle is definitely one of the ruthless pickups ever made, according to Ford.
What power hardware the 2018 Ford Raptor will rely on?
Ford has tactfully agreed to get rid of the 6.2 liters V8 from the previous Raptor’s generation. In place of it, the newest generation gets the EcoBoost engine. A 24 valve 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine offers a staggering 450 HP and 510 lb-ft of torque. Ford hasn’t confirmed but this engine will likely continue unchanged in the 2018 Ford Raptor despite we saw upgraded gas engine range and even a first-ever diesel engine in the newest F-150.
The 10-speed auto transmission will be mated to the EcoBoost and it comes with the manual shifting mode. This transmission system distributes power to the all four wheels. Equipped with the torque-on-demand transfer case the clutch-driven, mechanical locking system manages the distribution of power between the front and rear wheels.
The Raptor also includes the Terrain Management System through which driver can shift between six modes optimizing on that way the driving dynamics according to terrain conditions. What’s more, for even better off-road capability, the Raptor offers the Torsen front differential.
However, in order to provide smooth on-road ride and even be comfortable while beating off-road terrains, the Raptor features 3-inch Fox Racing Shocks. According to the wheel travel, the system provides variable damping rates thanks to the internal bypass technology.
2018 Ford Raptor: Look and Interior
The curvy Ford Raptor is more masculine than the conventional F-150. Ford has given special attention to elevate its bold looks with raised bumpers and metal skid plates. The model has unique grille design and muscular fender flares. To it bold looks also adds unique 17-inch wheels upgraded with all-terrain tires.
On the other hand, we all know that Ford updated styling of the 2018 F-150 bringing it more in line with the design of the heavy-duty models. However, with the mentioned attributes, the Raptor is still unique in its styling and we don’t expect any significant change in its visual identity.
The 2018 Ford Raptor will again return with the SuperCrew cab style. The model will include the similar features as the XLT trim. However, unlike the mentioned version, this model features unique interior trim and upholstery. It will also offer an interior carbon-fiber package. Other available features will include power and heated seats, power pedals, cooled seats, SYNC3 infotainment system, etc. The model will also cover the surround-view system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and more.
2018 Ford Raptor: Price
This high performance 2018 Ford Raptor is certainly not cheap. The huge price tag of around $49,500 for the base trim proves that. However, with the additional options, the model will easily reach $60k.
