Strangely, this is Ford’s least favored model. Speaking of a Ford sedan, the first vehicle which comes to mind is a muscle-flexing Mustang. But a 2018 Ford Taurus is well on the way as far as industry insiders and experts consider. Ford, just like every other top American manufacturer, plan to revise their offerings. With the last redesign coming way back in 2010, Taurus is due for a change for quite some time now. Here are the latest confirmable changes which will come with this upcoming model.
2018 Ford Taurus Engine Changes:
Engine changes are the most important redesign which this upcoming model will come with. Current gen models come with a 2.0L inline-4 EcoBoost engine as the base option with outputs ranging in at around 240 HP and 270 lb-ft. Ford is obviously planning to make this sedan a perfect family sedan for their loyal customers. Unlike the Mustang, a much more performance based offering, a family car is what this vehicle is supposed to be.
The upcoming 2018 Ford Taurus should get upgraded with a 2.0L inline-4 EcoBoost. Power outputs for this engine are expected to be above the current version. Also, this engine will have a higher compression ratio to aid in the issue. EPA ratings are expected to come in at around 19/28/22 mpg [City/Highway/Combined].
There will obviously be a more powerful engine option along with the base engine. Present gen models come with a 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine with outputs coming at around 365 HP and 350 lb-ft. This upcoming Ford Taurus 2018 will come with an even more powerful engine. Clearly, Ford is attempting better driving experience to compete with segment rivals.
The upcoming engine will be a 3.5L V6 EcoBoost, the same engine displacement and techs. But as per well-placed company sources, it will be fitted with twin-turbo mechanism. Power outputs will obviously get a strong boost with this twin-turbo engine version. The power ratings should emerge soon and a number of ponies could easily go above 400.
The new version of Taurus should also get a new transmission system. The new shifter will provide smoother gearing and will likely have the positive effect on the fuel economy. The Taurus will be available with both the front and all-wheel drive.
2018 Ford Taurus: Exterior and Interior Changes
Taurus was famed for its heavyweight build and durability. This is one of the largest sedans out there with class-leading in-cabin space. And Ford looks to continue with the same chassis format with some updates in the new 2018 Ford Taurus. Exterior changes as far as spy images conclude are minimal and the same goes for interior changes. A more congruent stance is expected over the previous model.
Other exterior changes include are more angular headlamp setup. A model can be made out with new stronger body lines.
Inside, we expect fresh materials and textures despite Ford hasn’t commented on model’s interior. With the better padding, this model will also offer the newest infotainment system version for all trims. The safety equipment will also be under inspection and model should also benefit from the latest achievements in this aspect.
Stay tuned for more info on the exterior and interior changes.
2018 Ford Taurus: Pricing and Release
Pricing for 2018 Ford Taurus should start from around $28,000. The competition will come from the likes of Chevy Impala, Toyota Camry and Honda Accord among others. A release date should be late in 2017 or early 2018 .
