Although we were pretty sure that GM has a plan to update its full-size SUV for this year, that’s not going to happen. Instead, they decide to update a top-level, so-called 2018 GMC Yukon Denali. The flagship vehicle isn’t going to receive too many changes, but regardless of the fact it will be essentially better from its predecessor, especially due to a new gearbox.
2018 GMC Yukon Denali: Engine and Transmission
From now on, the 2018 GMC Yukon Denali will use a 10-speed automatic transmission, which provides two extra gears over the existing eight-speed auto. Even though the new gearbox comes in a pair with an unchanged 6.2-liter V8 engine, it will enable both, better fuel economy and smoother drive because of wider ratio spread and taller final drive. As for the V8 mill, it will continue to deliver 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, which is more than enough for any full-size SUV.
Exterior and Interior Changes
Exterior styling won’t suffer too dramatic changes. Moreover, from the outside, the restyled large SUV features just a new grille. From now on, the 2018 Yukon Denali will have a multi-dimensional grille, as well as automatic shutters to reduce drag. We are not sure whether the vehicle sports any other exterior changes, but we are not able to see it here. However, you can always pick some extras. So in case you want larger wheels from standard 20-inch, you can get the SUV with 22 inchers.
Inside, the 2018 Yukon Denali sports just a single change. There is new Mastique Ash real wood, while everything else stays untouched. As it’s a range-topping model, the vehicle sports the finest leather upholstery and premium 8-inch infotainment with Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto connectivity. Front-seat passengers will get heated and ventilated seats, while the rear seats feature just the heaters. Of course, the 2018 GMC Yukon Denali sports head-up display, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as wireless phone charging and a hands-free power liftgate.
Price and Release Date
The refreshed 2018 GMC Yukon Denali will be available in dealerships this fall. The car manufacturer has not set the price of the updated SUV. However, we are pretty sure it won’t be significantly higher from the current, so let’s say you will have to have less than $70,000 for the new Yukon Denali.
