Japanese Automaker has announced the production of its popular subcompact hatchback. It is the brand new 2018 Honda Fit. This handsome vehicle will be the third generation model. So, we assume that it should show some minor changes both inside and outside. Although there are still no official specs and details about the new Fit, we believe that the full redesign is expected for a few years from now. So, 2018 Honda hatchback should appear with minimal changes in exterior design. Furthermore, it is said that it will also receive new seat trim inside. As for the powertrain, we are pretty sure that Honda Company won`t change anything for now.

The outgoing Fit should be available in three trim levels like the current model. Those are: LX, EX and EX-L models. The main competitors of the new Fit will be: Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio, Chevrolet Sonic and Toyota Yaris.

Engine, performance and fuel economy

Under the hood of the 2018 Honda Fit should be placed the same engine which powers its predecessor. It is a 1.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine. This unit is able to produce 130 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, a continuously variable transmission will be available too. It will come standard with front-wheel drive configuration.

The fuel efficiency of this unit is estimated to be 33 mpg in the city, 41 mpg on the highway and 36 mpg combined. Excellent fuel efficiency is one of its big advantages and the main reason why the costumers choose this model.

Moreover, some sources claim that for the European market automaker will introduce a 1.0-liter VTEC Turbo unit. However, this information is not yet confirmed.
