2018 Hyundai Accent is soon going to be ready to make the world`s debut. The new Accent is now entering the fifth generation so we expect some interesting upgrades. The main idea is to offer a nicely sculpted vehicle which is, on the first place, safe and reliable. Of course, considering its design, there will be some nice refreshments too. Its new look is borrowed from the larger Elantra model. The new Hyundai Accent will receive new chassis, upgraded powertrain and a few more tech features.
The Accent has been very popular in subcompact segment, so the engineers have working hard with the 2018 model in order to keep it that way. The main rivals of this new model will be Toyota Yaris and Ford Fiesta.
Engine and performance of 2018 Hyundai Accent
Under the hood of 2018 Hyundai Accent will be placed one engine option for now. It is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder gas engine with direct injection. This unit will be capable of making 132 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. It will be coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox. However, a six-speed automatic transmission will be available as well.
Company claims that it will show better acceleration this time. Moreover, they have said that the fuel efficiency will be improved for seven percent too. There is also a rumor that it might come with a hybrid, electric or plug-in versions, but it is not confirmed yet.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2018 Hyundai Accent should receive a complete redesign. Firstly, it will be lager that its forerunner. The Accent will be longer for 0.59 inches and wider for 1.1 inches. The wheelbase will get 1.1 in width too which will provide more space inside. Furthermore, the use of high strength steel in its design will make the chassis stiffer. This should affect on better aerodynamics, handling and quieter cabin.
Speaking of the exterior, the new Accent will be inspired by Elantra. It will look more elegant and handsome than before. The front end will feature its hexagonal grille and thinner headlamps with optional LED daytime running lights. On the rear, we will notice Elantra`s wraparound taillights. Moreover, the higher trim levels will receive 17-inch wheels and LED turn signal indicators.
Inside, 2018 Hyundai Accent will get a major redesign. The cabin will look more luxurious and will be roomier too. The new Hyundai will gain more advanced features and more quality materials in the design. The hatchback and sedan models will offer more space for passengers and for the luggage. The dashboard will feature a standard 5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Connectivity. However, a larger seven-inch display will be available too. This time, the new Accent will get a rearview camera as the standard equipment. Speaking of the technology, some of the optional features will be heated seats, LED daytime running lights, automatic braking, keyless entry, push-button start and so on.
Release date and price
The new 2018 Hyundai Accent sedan should be presented in late 2017. The hatchback model is scheduled for the early 2018. As for the price, it should be similar to the price of the current model. So, it should start at around $16,000.
