2018 Hyundai Elantra Sedan: Release Date, Review

The Hyundai Elantra model has gained almost 3 million sales since it has been firstly introduced in the United States. This compact sedan is now in its six generation and recently it has received new bold styling, roomy cabin and numerous tech features which brought it back in the game. Now, we are about to see the brand new 2018 Hyundai Elantra Sedan.

For the 2018 model year, Elantra sedan will bring numerous upgrades and improvements in every segment of the vehicle. It will come in six different trims which will differ in equipment with reasonable price. Those are: SE, SEL, Value Edition, Eco, Limited and the Sport. There will be a choice of three different engines and what is more important it will show very good fuel economy. The interior is spacious and equipped with many standard and optional latest features.

The 2018 Hyundai Elantra Sedan will offer three types of engines. The base will be a 2.0-liter inline-4 which can produce 147 horsepower and 137 pound-feet of torque. This engine will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed SHIFTRONIC automatic gearbox.

The next option is a 1.6-liter turbo-4 engine which powers the Sport trims. This unit can develop 201 hp and 195 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual or optional 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The last one is a 1.4-liter turbo-4 engine with direct injection. This engine will be capable of making 128 horses and will power Eco trims. The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will be the only choice for this one.

As for the fuel economy, the base model gets 28/37/32 mpg in the city/highway/combined with a 6-speed automatic. The second one which powers the Sport trim is rated at 22/30/25/mpg while the last one gets 32/40/35 mpg.

Design of exterior and interior

Speaking of exterior design, the 2018 Hyundai Elantra Sedan will feature sharper body lines and handsome styling. The front fascia will get lower and wider grille with narrow headlamps. The rear end is also nicely sculpted with attractive taillights and new exhaust outlets. Furthermore, all the trims will get a new exterior color – Machine Grey. The 16-inch alloy wheels will be standard while the larger ones will be available too.

When it comes to interior, the 2018 Hyundai Elantra Sedan will be sufficiently spacious for all the passengers although it is classified as the mid-sized vehicle. The front seats are particularly comfortable because of the slightly longer wheelbase. The rear ones might not get the same amount of comfort as the front seats but they will provide great head and leg room. The cargo space is also excellent and in addition to that, the rear seat can split fold for even more space.

As for the technology, all the trims will get with audio system with 6 speakers, 3.5-inch LCD display, cloth upholstery, stability control, drive-side blind-spot mirror etc. Moving to the SEL trim, there will be larger 7.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, cruise control, a rearview camera, blind spot detection and so on. Moreover, the top trims will be available with dual-zone climate control, two USB ports, keyless ignition, navigation, leather seats and an 8-inch touchscreen.

Release date and price

The 2018 Hyundai Elantra Sedan will be available this fall, most likely starting from November. As for the pricing, it should start at around $16,950.
