Infiniti is definitely working on the new generation Q70. The topping sedan is still quite fresh since it’s updated in 2015, but Nissan’s luxury brand decided that it’s the right moment for a complete redesign. Still, even though we know it’s getting a new suit, we can’t really say how it will look the 2018 Infiniti Q70. That’s because the carmaker hides the prototype from the public. However, judging by our insiders, the new full-size sedan will host a number of important changes, both inside and out.
2018 Infiniti Q70: Exterior and Interior Changes
It isn’t secret at all that the next Q70 is getting a new platform. The architecture will not only make some rooms for new technologies but also make the full-size sedan significantly lighter. This is due t a use of lightweight materials such as aluminum and carbon fiber. However, that won’t have any big influence on car’s new exterior styling at all. No, the luxury vehicle will rather receive an evolutionary redesign, which will make the 2018 Infiniti Q70 fresh and attractive, but still sufficiently recognizable. Up front, the topper will get a redesigned grille, which will still feature a mesh treatment, as well as even more pronounced front bumper. The car will borrow headlights and taillights from the smaller Q50.
Inside, the redesigned Q70 should provide more space. That’s because the carmaker plans to add a few inches extra between the wheels. In addition, the dash will be treated with real leather and wood. We also expect to see some double of contrast stitching. A new infotainment system will be better and friendly to use which isn’t the case with today’s model and will rely on two touchscreen displays (8.0-inch upper and 7.0-inch lower). Nissan’s luxury division will also add a new safety system that includes self-driving technology. The system is named ProPilot system and combines adaptive cruise control, collision warning, blind spot warning and intervention, and lane departure warning and prevention to make passengers safer.
Under the Hood
Our source claims that the 2018 Infiniti Q70 is getting a new base engine. In place of the current 3.7-liter V-6, the carmaker plans to add a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6, which is capable of delivering up to 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. The more potent version will likely keep the existing 5.6-liter V-8, however instead of today’s 420 hp, the car will get at least 440 ponies. Of course, the 2018 Infiniti Q70 Hybrid will stay. It will combine a 3.5-liter V-6 with an electric motor for a decent output of 360 horsepower.
Estimated Price and Release
Infiniti’s new generation full-size sedan will appear early next year. Of course, the carmaker will introduce both the regular and long-wheelbase variants. Judging by the latest rumors, the base 2018 Q70 might cost a bit more than the current model, so you can expect the starting price somewhere around $52,000.
