Kia was preparing its amazing sport sedan for quite some time. The car had been previewed in the concept form two times before the carmaker introduced the rear deal. Now when we finally see the actual thing, we can’t evaluate whether the 2018 Kia Stinger could compete with the most prominent cars of the segment. If you ask us, the car is better than good, perhaps the best Kia ever.
2018 Kia Stinger: Engine Options
Performance wise, the 2018 Stinger offers two engines. Both are powerful and impressive. The base model uses a 2.0-liter turbo four mill that is rated at 255 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. In case you rather prefer V6, there is the model paired with a 3.3-liter twin turbo V-6, which is able of producing up to 365-hp and 376 pound-feet. Aside it is the more powerful version the V6 Stinger also delivers amazing performance results. Yes, the car reached 60 mph in just 5 seconds. While you can choose between a standard rear-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive, the sports sedan gets only an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Exterior, Interior, Safety
The exterior styling isn’t something that can be measured, but we have to say that the 2018 Kia Stinger really gorgeous, perhaps better than we expected. What’s more important, the car left behind all its rivals with the footprint. Yes, the Stinger is now the class leader with its 114.4-inch between the wheels and 190 inches of length. The front-end design features Kia’s distinctive “tiger nose” grille, wide intakes and aggressive headlights, while the rear end has impressive taillights and amazing exhaust layout. It’s needless to say that both front and rear lightening features standard LED elements.
Inside of the cabin, the 2018 Kia Stinger gets an 8.0-inch central touchscreen and a TFT information screen. You can’t miss the interesting trio of round climate control, as well as Nappa leather treatment all around the interior. The car sports Kia’s latest infotainment system and Harman/Kardon audio system that includes 15-speaker and 720-watt. As we said earlier, the car gains class-leading measures, and thus it features plenty of room inside. Both front and rear passengers will be able to stretch without any problem, yet the rear passengers will have to look after their heads due to car’s ultra-sleek profile.
Kia’s endeavor to make the 2018 Stinger without any flaw is pretty evident when you count a number of standard safety kit. The list includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeps assist. Still, the best part is a fatigue sensor that detects a tired driver. Of course, if that happens, the sensor starts pretty loud alarm.
Estimated Price and Availability
The stunning and sleek sports sedan isn’t priced yet. However, the car manufacturer promised a competitive price, so we think it will start at around $35K. Of course, the topping model will cross $50K without any doubt. Anyway, the actual price will be known very soon, most likely in the coming month. The sale of the 2018 Kia Stinger will start this summer.
