The production of Lexus NX started in 2014 and it was available on-road from 2015. It is an SUV sold by Lexus, the luxury division of Toyota and based on the RAV4. The model was immensely successful in the USA and Europe. It was amongst the best selling luxury vehicles in Russia as well. The latest model of the NX series – the 2018 Lexus NX was updated and presented at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show. While the new model comes with the same power outputs and powertrain variants, Lexus has done some job on car’s suspension. The model also features refreshed styling and interior. Upgraded is also an infotainment system and Safety Sense + package is made standard.
2018 Lexus NX: Powertrains
The new 2018 Lexus NX comes with the same amount of power and the same power hardware. However, the NX 200t now comes as the NX 300 but the same engine powers this model. A 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four can produce 235 hp and torque of 258 pound-feet. Lexus combines this engine with the six-speed automatic and standard front-wheel drive. You can get the all-wheel drive as an option.
The hybrid version also returns with the same hardware and uses familiar NX300h nameplate. The combination of a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine and two electric motors can provide 194 hp. While the base version will return 25 mpg combined, expect the hybrid to achieve 35 mpg combined.
What Lexus, on the other hand, promises, is the better ride and handling thanks to some changes on the suspension system. The components like the springs, bushings and stabilizer bars are tweaked alongside with the adjustable dampers to provide better ride quality.
2018 Lexus NX: Refreshed Look
The look of 2018 Lexus NX has been improved to give it an extreme look and also to provide better air flow. The grille is again in the familiar form and mesh pattern but slightly tweaked. The upper grille area and fenders have been resculpted to provide more streamlined form. The model also features the new headlights influenced with the units from the Lexus LC coupe. The same is with the taillights which also feature the similar design as those on the LC model. Combined with the taillights is reshaped rear bumper which comes with widened exhaust tips. The new 18-inch wheel will also be available.
What’s new in the cabin?
The inside of the SUV will be upgraded with the new version of the infotainment system, new trim materials and safety rig.
The newest version of model’s infotainment system will get a 10.3-inch touch screen which replaces the current 7-inch display. A metallic satin finish will be seen on model’s switchgear and HVAC system has simpler to use controls. Other details are the wider wireless charger slot, upgraded USB ports, etc.
The model also boasts now standard Safety System + suite. It includes lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision alert and automatic high beams.
