The 2018 Lincoln MKZ has no changes in comparison with the 2017 model. Still, it’s quite interesting sedan which deserves to be a far more popular than it is at the moment. The car shares its platform with the Ford Fusion and offers three pretty solid engines. Plus, even though it’s introduced in 2013 and just slightly refreshed last year, the MKZ looks very handsome both inside and out.
2018 Lincoln MKZ: Engine Options
Performance wise, the 2018 MKZ rely on two gasoline options and one hybrid. The base model uses a four-cylinder option. The 2.0-liter turbo delivers 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. The power comes to front or all four wheels via six-speed automatic transmission. The bigger turbo 3.0-liter V-6 is also mated to front- and all-wheel drive. However, there are some essential differences here because the front-wheel drive model gets just 350 horsepower, while the AWD option delivers 400 hp. The V6 is paired with a six-speed automatic at the moment, but this should change pretty soon because Ford introduces its all-new gearbox through the lineup.
As for the 2018 Lincoln MKZ hybrid, it’s the most efficient options of course. It combines a 2.0-liter inline-four with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery for a total output of 188 horsepower. The power travels to all wheels through CVT gearbox. Even though it’s not as potent as the gasoline option, the hybrid provides a far better fuel economy. According to EPA it achieves 41/38 mpg city/highway.
Equipment and Features
The refreshed MKZ got a new grille and a pair of restyled headlights last year. As we said earlier, this year’s sedan will have nothing new to offer. Still, the classy exterior doesn’t need anything new at all, because the car is gorgeous already.
Inside, the sedan really lacks space for the rear-seat passengers and this is something that carmaker needs to fix as soon as it’s possible. The lack of space is softened with really cozy seats. In addition, the 2018 Lincoln MKZ offers a range of good equipment. There are lane-departure warning, parallel and perpendicular parking assistance, and adaptive cruise control, as well as a quite useful pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection. The sedan offers pretty much everything you can find inside of the luxury car. Though, you can always improve it with a range of options such as Black Label trim with the finest leather, wood, and metal treatment, or with a larger touchscreen interface.
Since it offers a range of engines and plenty of additional equipment, you can buy the 2018 Lincoln MKZ for much and not so much money. More precisely, the base option is priced $35,935, but the full-loaded model costs $54,485.
