All the news and sources indicate that the new 2018 Maserati Levante GTS will soon join the world’s market. This full size luxury SUV with high performance was firstly presented back in 2011 at the Frankfurt Auto Show as the Kubang Concept. Finally, last year the car maker has confirmed the production of this model and unveiled it at the Geneva Motor Show.
At the first glance, we could see an impressive Italian exterior design and luxurious and modern interior. Compared to the standard Levante model, the Levante GTS will feature more aggressive look and better equipment inside the cabin. Of course, we expect more power under its hood as well. It will probably use the same engine which powers the Quattroporte model. Moreover, we believe that it might become one of the most powerful vehicles in its class. With fresh and attractive exterior, powerful engine and pleasant cabin we expect it to be very popular after it hits the market despite the fact that it will probably be very expensive.
The new Maserati Levante GTS main rivals on the market will be Range Rover Sport SVR and Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.
2018 Maserati Levante GTS powertrain and performance
The standard Levante model features a 3.0-liter V-6 engine under it hood. This unit is able to produce 345 horses in the base model while in the Levante S trim it can develop even 424 horsepower. However, in order to stay competitive with its main rivals in already crowded luxury SUV market, the Italian automaker will have to give it more ponies.
So, the 2018 Maserati Levante GTS will most likely receive the same engine which powers the current Quattroporte GTS version. It is a 3.8-liter V-8 twin-turbo powertrain. This unit is able to make 523 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque which is really impressive. It will come standard with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The all-wheel drive configuration should be standard. As for the acceleration, the new Maserati should hit 60 mph in around 4 seconds.
Design of exterior and interior
When it comes to the exterior, the 2018 Maserati Levante GTS will have more aggressive and meaner look that the standard version. The rounded body of the current model will be replaced with sharper edges and more angular lines. The front fascia will feature a honeycomb grille with shiny black finish and chrome strip at the top. The slim and narrow headlamps will give it more aggressive appearance. As well, there will be wider and extended intake which will be positioned lower than before. Furthermore, above the grille, we will find two fog lights which will be integrated into the bumper. On the side, there will be smaller and sharper side-view mirrors.
As for the interior, it is not hard to imagine what the new 2018 Maserati Levante GTS should bring. The luxury will be at every corner. There will be some nice wood details, aluminum trim and for the sportier look of the cabin, the Company will offer the full carbon trim on the dashboard and doors. The seats will be comfortable and upholstered in quality leather. The dashboard will receive an 8.4-inch screen with infotainment system. The Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system with 17 speakers and all-digital TFT touchscreen will be standard.
Release date and price
The 2018 Maserati Levante GTS should arrive sometime during 2018. As for the pricing, it should be around $120,000.
