2018 Mazda MX-5 Miata: Changes, Price

For all the lovers of sports car, we have some good news. The legendary Miata model is set to be launched once again only improved and better than ever. So we will soon see the 2018 Mazda MX-5 Miata. Since it has always been a good-seller, the Japanese car maker will give it a few upgrades in order to keep it fresh.

The Miata is fun to drive, attractive and because of its small dimensions it is suitable for the city ride and it is easy to park it everywhere you want. It has already entered the new, fourth generation as the 2017 when it has brought many significant changes. It became much lighter which improved its aerodynamics, gas mileage and fuel economy. Furthermore, it received sleeker body lines and more optional tech features. So the new Mazda will continue with the 2017 model design and improvements and it could only get several cosmetic changes and more standard equipment.

2018 Mazda MX-5 Miata powertrain and performance

Under the hood of the 2018 Mazda MX-5 Miata won`t be any particular changes. It will keep with the same engine as the current model. It is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder SkyActiv-G engine. This unit is able to develop 155 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes with a six-speed manual gearbox. However, the six-speed automatic transmission will be available too. The new Miata will be able to reach 60 mph in about six seconds. The rear-wheel drive configuration will be standard as before.

As for the fuel economy, the new Mazda with 6-speed manual is rated at 26 mpg in the city, 33 mpg on the highway and 29 mpg combined. However, with automatic transmission, Miata should be slightly more efficient. So, it shows 26/35/29 mpg in the city/highway/combined.

Design of exterior and interior

The new 2018 Mazda MX-5 Miata looks very attractive, sleek and handsome. It has long hood and sporty profile. The whole body is very nicely sculpted with many interesting details. The front fascia features very low positioned grille with Mazda insignia placed above it. The headlamps are sleek, attractive and will get LED lighting. The rear end is more rounded, finely sculpted and features nicely detailed tail lamps. It will ride on standard 16-inch alloy wheels while the larger ones will be available as well.

Inside, the 2018 Mazda MX-5 Miata is two-seater vehicle. But despite the small interior, it can accommodate a driver and a passenger comfortably. The sporty seats are covered in quality fabrics. They are very comfortable and sufficiently supportive although they cannot be considered as the best in the class. The cargo space will be small and a bit tight. However, we did not expect any improvements in that area anyhow. The cabin is quieter than before and will probably get more equipment. The current model comes standard with air conditioning, audio system with six speakers, power windows, USB, keyless ignition, airbags and so on. The available equipment includes Bose audio, leather upholstery, automatic climate control, larger wheels etc.
