Mitsubishi Outlander is undoubtedly one of the most popular compact crossover SUV vehicles worldwide. This model has standard three-row seating and offers plenty of standard features. Mitsubishi redesigned this seven-seat crossover SUV for the 2014 model year but Outlander also received many improvements two years after. The 2017 model also gained some new safety features and infotainment upgrades. However, in order to make this model more even more competitive, Mitsubishi should offer the new 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander with the plug-in hybrid powertrain and some other updates.
Though solid evidence is still not available, some tipsters do present some insights about the up-approaching 2018 Outlander.
2018 Mitsubishi Outlander: External body
Mitsubishi Outlander always hosted a tough exterior body and with the looks of it, the company is well on course to maintain the reputation. The new model is not going to appear much different from its earlier models as Mitsubishi has sharpened its look in last years.
However, some tweaks around model’s front fascia are possible as well on its rear end. Refreshed lighting clusters and some new details on the grille and bumpers could be seen on the new 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander. On the other hand, we don’t expect sheet metal re-sculpting but Mitsubishi could offer new exterior theme and color options.
2018 Outlander will have a spacious cabin incorporating all luxury aspects which car owners prefer. However, most aspects should remain unchanged!
The model will feature attractive dashboard design and will offer the long list of standard features. Comfortable seats will also provide long-ride comfort and model also offers generous space in the front and middle seating rows.
The Outlander should not experience changes in its size and therefore it should continue to offer a respectable 63.3 cubic feet of cargo space when rear rows are not in function.
What is also a good side of this SUV is a generous standard equipment package and with the new version it could be even more generous. The model will offer standard features like the 18-inch wheels, LED taillights and DRLs, dual-zone automatic climate control, tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment interface with smartphone compatibility, etc.
In higher trims, it will add upgraded upholstery, heating features, unique accents, advanced safety systems, etc.
2018 Mitsubishi Outlander: Powertrain specs
2018 Mitsubishi Outlander is believed to host separate engines.
For the GT version, it has a standard 3.0-liter V6 engine mated to a conventional 6 speed auto transmission. It is also accompanied by paddle shifters. Power output for this motor should be around 215 lb-ft of torque and 224 HP of power output.
For ES, SEL and SE, it has a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine having the ability to produce around 162 lb-ft of torque and 166 HP of power output. This is mated to a CVT auto transmission and you can choose between front- and all-wheel drive.
On the other hand, as mentioned above, Mitsubishi should also offer a plug-in hybrid version of this model. The model should get a complex powertrain which should have a similar configuration like in Mitsubishi’s concept models. However, we don’t know what exact hardware it would include and what mileage would offer.
2018 Mitsubishi Outlander price and launch date
The base models of the new 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander will start roughly at a price of around $25,000. But we don’t know the price of its plug-in hybrid version.
Its launch date is not clear due to lack of any kind of official announcement. However as per opinion of tipsters end of 2017 is a good guess.
