The one of and perhaps the best selling Skoda’s vehicle is now ready for a mid-cycle refresh. It is the new 2018 Skoda Octavia. This model is Company’s very important and significant model because it is very practical and it is getting more and more popular on the market, especially in Europe. The current Octavia is now in its third generation, so the Czech manufacturer has decided to give it some important upgrades in order to keep it competitive and fresh.
The 2018 model will bring many adjustments. The exterior will be refreshed with new lamps and the cabin will feature improved materials and more optional features. Under the hood, the new Octavia will most likely keep with the same units but the car maker has announced some upgrades as well. Furthermore, the Skoda will come with several option packages which price will be very reasonable. The Skoda Octavia will be available in base, Sport and RS trim levels. It will compete against new Renault Megane and Opel Astra.
2018 Skoda Octavia types of engines and performances
The 2018 Skoda Octavia will appear with several types of engines. The one will be a 1.4-liter 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine which will be able to produce 148 horsepower. The engine will be paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. However, six-speed manual gearbox will be available too. The front-wheel drive configuration will be standard. There will also be a 2.0-liter TSI unit which will be able to produce 245 horsepower. The next one is a 2.0-liter TDI which will have the output of around 180 horses. Furthermore, it will also be available with a 1.6-liter diesel engine. The higher trims will also be available with all-wheel drive configuration.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2018 Skoda Octavia will continue to ride on the extended version of the VW Group’s MQB platform which means the same dimensions as the current model and one of the best interior space in its class.
Speaking of the exterior design, the 2018 Skoda Octavia will keep with the same design as the current model but it will feature some refreshments all over the body. Both front and rear fascias will receive important cosmetic modifications. So far, we have managed to see the new dual design of the headlamps. As well, the taillights will be slightly revised and will get new C-shaped theme lighting. Furthermore, the new Skoda will ride on redesigned 17-inch alloy wheels, but the larger 18-inch dark alloy wheels will be available in higher trims.
When it comes to the interior of2018 Skoda Octavia, spaciousness and functionality are its main characteristics. The cabin will be redesigned this time with more quality materials such as soft-touch plastics. It is generally very comfortable even for the rear-seat passengers. The cargo space is also pretty good and for more room, the second row can fold down. The front seats are very supportive and manually adjustable. The dashboard will feature an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
As for the equipment, it comes standard with dual-zone climate control, a rear view camera, seven airbags, voice control, leather-wrapped steering wheel etc. Furthermore, the optional Tech Pack adds 9.2-inch touchscreen with navigation, keyless entry and start, Canton audio system with 10 speakers and so on. However, if you choose a Luxury Pack then you get leather seats, two USB ports, blind-spot monitoring, lane keep assist, heated seats, two airbags more etc.
Release date and price of the 2018 Skoda Octavia
The 2018 Skoda Octavia should go on sale in the end of this year. As for the pricing, it should start at roughly $24,000 and will go up to $44,000 for the top trims.
